Course description
|
This course will develop and extend the knowledge and understanding of teachers/adults other than teachers in Key Stage 1 & 2 and build confidence in their delivery of gymnastic lessons. It will examine and explore development and progression through a whole school schematic approach, demystify and thoroughly explore apparatus work and provide a clear framework for delivery of gymnastics in the National Curriculum. The teaching of basic gymnastic skills in a progressive and safe way and the principles involved in sequence-construction will be addressed as appropriate. Several specific units of work will be experienced practically so participants should dress appropriately. | |||

Safe organisation of equipment, children and playing space will be addressed throughout the course. Course description
|
This course will develop and extend the knowledge and understanding of those teachers/adults other than teachers with limited dance experience, and will build their confidence in delivery of dance in the curriculum. The basic core skills and principles of movement will be explained and experienced and course participants will learn the simple progressive stages involve in ‘how to make up a dance’! Appropriate and varied stimuli will be introduced and a range of sounds, percussion instruments and musical accompaniments will be explored. Different teaching and learning strategies will be introduced and addressed within an inclusive environment. This is a practical course so please dress appropriately. | |||

Playground leadership training course-supporting active break times & reducing incidents of mis-behaviour & bullying | |||

Course description |
This one day course will provide all teachers and adult other than teachers with the necessary guidance and resources to deliver playground leadership training to KS2 children back at their school. On successful completion of the playground leadership training pupils will receive the nationally accredited Young Leaders Award from Sports Leaders UK (funded by the School Sport Partnership). There are several benefits of the award to young people. These are: · Encourages young people to take responsibility and develop leadership skills. · Develops skills such as organisation, communication and self review. · Provides opportunities for older children to work with younger children thus promoting integration and social inclusion. · Reduces problems associated with bullying and inappropriate behaviour. · Encourages co-operation and help to develop moral and social skills. | |||
